10 Feb Bethany Calman
Bethany graduated from Sydney’s Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Science. She then went on to continue her study completing her Masters in Speech Language Pathology at Flinders University in Adelaide. She also has experience working in a private setting.
Believing that all people need to be in community with each other and that the ability to communicate effectively impacts on our ability to connect with our community, she strives to help individuals to communicate effectively in a manner which encourages the them to actively participate in their communities.
Bethany’s kind and caring nature makes it easy for her to build strong connections with children and their families and she loves to celebrate every victory in achieving their goals. With the desire to quickly develop rapport with families, it allows her to ensure that therapy is effective from the first session.
With an interest in working with preschool aged children and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, her desire is to optimise their ability to be able to communicate effectively and functionally. She believes that functional goals are essential to assist goals going beyond the therapy room and spanning effectively into everyday life.
Trained in the Lidcombe Program, her desire is to continue attending many professional development opportunities in the future as she loves to learn and believes that you can never be finished learning.
Bethany is excited to be part of the Chatterbox team and can be found at our Penrith practice. She is looking forward to meeting her wonderful clients and working with families to establish functional therapy goals and celebrate with families when they are achieved.
Away from Chatterbox, Bethany enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as getting out to the beach, especially during summer!
